By: Emily Wright

Marriott has over 300,000 followers and 77, 500 tweets. Hilton has over 294,000 followers 51,000 tweets.  Both have a close amount of followers and tweet close to the same amount, Hilton slightly more.

Lets take a look at Marriott’s twitter page:
  • Includes retweets from Marriott Hotel’s
  • Includes Photos tagging Marriott Hotel locations

Upon looking at the tweets of both accounts with the highest engagement, one can say that the hashtag on Hilton’s tweet advertises it to a larger audience, increasing engagement. However, due to the fact that Hilton posts the same content on their Facebook and Twitter, it could show that users are choosing to follow only the Facebook account and not both, hence why their twitter account has so fewer followers than their Facebook. This could mean that a tweet different from the Facebook page could be missed by a large number of followers. No account is more successful than the other when looking at numbers related to engagement.

My own personal opinion on which account I find most appealing and account I am most likely to share, comment, like, is Hilton’s, based on their guest travel photo’s. The photo’s posted on both their Facebook and their Twitter pages are absolutely stunning. I say this in relation to a business announcement, which I am more likely to read without sharing. With that being said, 50/50 rule is important and considered on this account with business announcements mixed in well with other content.
