By: Emily Wright To help Canadian’s beat those cold winter blues, Marriott will be launching a social media contest in January 2019. Social media users across Canada will be invited to share their funniest vacation photos using the hashtag, #MarriottLaughs, and be entered for a chance to win an All-Inclusive Vacation for 4. In order to win, users must be following Marriott accounts. Marriott’s goal with this campaign is to increase their following and increase engagement on their posts. By requiring entrants to follow the Marriott social media pages, it strengthens the brands following and allows for the postings to reach a wider audience and build more business. We hope to create a photo frenzy where everyone is liking, sharing, and talking about the hilarious photos and stories being shared. Hilton has over 294,000 followers 51,000 tweets.  Both have a close amount of followers and tweet close to the same amount, Hilton slightly more. By: Emily Wright Marriott’s Facebook page has 368,831 likes and 361,285 followers. Hilton’s Facebook page has over five times the amount of that with 1,861,480 likes and 1,847,053 followers. Lets take a look at the aspects of each page to determine why Hilton has so many more followers than Marriott, and does this affect their follower engagement.
